Lake Ontario Trout & Salmon Association (LOTSA) is a Not-For-Profit group of mainly weekend recreational fishermen who are dedicated to the enhancement and promotion of the Lake Ontario Sport-Fishery. LOTSA places a heavy emphasis on Education including recruiting new Anglers to the Lake Ontario Fishery and providing continual Education opportunities for the experienced Anglers.
Michigan Steelhead and Salmon Fisherman's Association (MSSFA) was organized in 1971 by a handful of individuals who knew that Michigan's newly formed trout & salmon fishery was something worth working to protect. They were a small group who wanted not only to protect their fishery, but learn how to catch their elusive prey and tell fishing stories.
The S.O.N.S. (Save Our Native Species) of Lake Erie Fishing Club is an active organization of nearly 3000 members. Established in 1981, we are dedicated to the improvement of fishing on Lake Erie and its Pennsylvania tributaries. The organization has supported regulations that promote the growth and health of the Lake Erie fishery.
The Great Lakes Fishery Commission is a bi-national commission made up of representatives of the United States and Canada. It was formed by the Convention on Great Lakes Fisheries, concluded in 1954 and ratified in 1955. It has eight members: four members are appointed by the President of the United States, serving six-year terms, and four are appointed by the Privy Council of Canada. The commission is charged, under Article Four of the Convention on Great Lakes Fisheries, with conducting research and making recommendations on the management of Great Lakes fisheries, as well attempting the eradication of the sea lamprey from the Great Lakes.
The PA Steelhead Association is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established to enhance and preserve the Steelhead fishery in Pennsylvania including improving public access for Steelhead fishing, encouraging private landowners to maintain public access for Steelhead fishing, implementing stream enhancement and habitat improvement projects for Steelhead, and assisting nonprofit organizations which operate nurseries for spawning or raising Steelhead, or which acquire land or access easements for Steelhead fishing, or which engage in activities which complement the purposes and activities of the PA Steelhead Association.
