The E.P.S.F.A. was formed by a small group of anglers in 2006 who saw a need to unify the boating anglers who fish the Pennsylvania waters of Lake Erie. This small group not only wanted to look out for the fishery, they wanted to engage in community and educational events. We also recognized the need to have a unified “voice” concerning our fishery.
For those anglers, businesses, sportsmen and women who are concerned about the fishery, stocking levels, pollution, environment, promotion of fishing and are community minded, we ask you to join us by being a member. “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” (Helen Keller)
The purpose of the Erie PA Sport Fishing Association is to educate, enhance, and protect the sport fishing in Pennsylvania, especially in Lake Erie, Presque Isle Bay and its tributaries. To that end, we have established goals which we believe will define our organization’s activities by their significant diversity.
-Promoted fish cleaning stations for Erie County (3) total to date
-Kid’s Fishing Day community event
-Amending the “2” rod rule to “3”
-Brown trout stocking level and promotion of this species
-Developed a fish verification reporting program for the community in with the P.F.B.C.
-Initiated the 1st “team tournament” Pro-Am style fishing event
-Developed numerous “team tournaments” style events
-Instituted the 1st tackle swap event for the community
In addition to these tournaments, the Team of the Year and Trout Cup will also be up for grabs this year. The tournament committee discussed the return of Big Fish Friday as well as a potential Big Fish Derby leading into the Summer Slam.
